We took a break to focus on family and adventure
Family time is important to us and with campaign season gearing up, we wanted to take a break and focus on what matters. Our family of six spent a few weeks together in the Himalayas, unplugged from the rest of the world. It was the perfect setting for me and my husband to hike alongside our daughters up a beautiful valley with mountain peaks over 20,000 feet high.

INFRASTRUCTURE AND PUBLIC SAFETY
While in the Nepali village of Bihi, I met a man who was running for mayor of the village. I asked him, “What are the important issues in Bihi?”
He didn’t bat an eye, saying “safe walking paths, clean water, and income from trekkers travelling through.”
It’s the same everywhere, from Encinitas to the Himalayas, the job of local leaders is to keep the infrastructure in good shape, provide a safe environment for the residents, elderly, and children, and allow businesses to thrive.
“Let’s get back to basics in Encinitas and focus on what residents really need: infrastructure that works, public safety that keeps us safe, and a healthy business environment.”

Leucadia Filmmaker wins award for movie about Nepal
It’s purely coincidental that this news came out right when we returned from our trip! I’m looking forward to an upcoming meeting with Ron Ranson to share Nepali stories.

If you support my message, “Let’s get back the basics” and believe that elected officials should be held accountable, then please add your name to my Endorsements List and donate to my campaign.
(Donations can range from $5 to $250 per person, $500 max per couple) |

Ruben Flores, a former Encinitas Planning Commissioner said, “I think it’s very important that people understand that I am a former supporter of Blakespear, I campaigned for her. But now I’ve become extremely disappointed and shocked at the turn Mayor Blakespear has taken in the last couple of years …The idea of excluding dissenting voices just creates an artificial echo chamber, and it’s a reflection of the attitude of our elected leaders. I want them to listen to all points of view, even the people that voted against them.” |
